Supervision Contract

Please take some time to carefully read through the contents of this contract for online therapy. If you agree to the terms and conditions that this contract holds, please sign the contract and submit the contract agreement below.

Individual supervision can be used to support any area of your professional development.

Here are some examples of things you may wish to do:

  • Facilitate your professional development in terms of integrating theory into practice.

  • Explore themes and issues in relation to your evolving professional identity, particularly if you are working towards an exam or accreditation.

  • Receive help with the completion of academic work if you are working towards an exam or accreditation.

  • Develop awareness about your client’s process and how to think about this theoretically and relationally.

  • Explore your feelings in response to your clients (counter-transference). This can be helpful in understanding your client’s process (social diagnosis), your own process and/or the inter-subjective dynamic between you.

  • Supervision is an anti-oppressive space, where we will proactively invite conversations regarding power, privilege, and the intersectionality of identity for both the client and ourselves.

Together we will co-create the style of working. However, it may be helpful for you to know that I consider myself an integrative TA practitioner; my work and thinking is informed by a variety of TA methods and techniques, including contemporary thinking and I do not affiliate myself with any one particular TA School. My work is also influenced by training an an EMDR therapist and undergraduate psychology degree.

Supervision Sessions

  • While in training individual sessions cost £10 and last for 60 minutes, and will rise once qualified.

  • Whilst in training I will offer blocks of 10 supervision sessions.

  • I charge the full fee for absences and cancellations where I am given less than 1 week’s notice. However, I will endeavour to find an alternative time/space for you.

  • If you are late for a session for any reason, please let me know as soon as you can. If you are late for your session, the session cannot be extended.

  • I do not put a limit to the amount of supervision you may wish to have with me in any one month. It is, however, your responsibility to ensure the required hours of supervision are met.

  • I take holidays throughout the year. There are sometimes one or two ad hoc days for work/conferences. I will give you dates of my holidays/short absences and as much notice as possible.

Practicalities

  • It can be helpful for you to bring recorded segments of your sessions for us to explore.

  • Training colleges would occasionally like supervisors to provide feedback either written or verbally. Any information that has been asked to be shared will be discussed with your first.

  • You are able to call me between sessions if you become concerned or worried about a client. If this is a relatively quick call (up to 10 minutes) I do not charge. If longer, I charge 50% of the full hourly fee.

Payment for sessions

Payment for sessions will be made before the session or on the same day as the session by bank transfer. Please note that your name may appear on Acorn Counselling Therapy bank statements.

The bank details to make the payments are;

Confidentiality

I discuss work with a supervisory consultant, which is a confidential relationship. Other than that, I keep complete confidentiality unless I discuss my wish to break that confidence, which I would only do by talking to you first. I am bound by the UKATA and the UKCP codes of ethics.

Clinical responsibility

While clinical responsibility remains with you as the therapist, the effectiveness of our supervision relies on your commitment to bringing relevant and transparent case material to our sessions
